A BRIEF GLIMPSE

  • ka'ja was the oldest of all the planets in existence in their former galaxy, so much so that tales told of a time where the species actually dwelled above the surface -- on land! -- and thrived in the sunshine they were provided. unfortunately they, like most civilizations, became their own undoing, and the post-apocalyptic warzone the planet was left with was nothing but a desolate reminder of what used to be.

  • beneath the bleak surface, however, the plucky race adapted to the forced change, made refuge down below, and continued to survive. though it took a few hundred years for them to get back to where they'd been previously technologically, eventually they became the absolute top of the species list once more, surpassing any other planet they knew of (which was actually very few, as they were the only species ever capable of space travel, and they'd never traveled beyond their own orbit before the apocalypse came calling). they rebuilt their society, shrouded in darkness, huddled together for centuries as they tinkered away with new inventions and discoveries. their new environment actually caused them to thrive underground, giving them more to focus on and less to fight about amongst one another.

  • biologically the ka'ji (residents of ka'ja) were small and frail, covered in pale skin due to lack of authentic sunlight and use of semi-suitable replacements for light in their tunnels and architecture. with black eyes that looked like largely dialated pupils, their night vision was far better than anyone could've imagined. so much so that, if on the surface and looking into the sun, one would go immediately blind.

  • the most brilliant aliens out of the three il'ethalian races, they even attempted to share their technology to the neighboring planets they'd found with semi-intelligent lifeforms, organizing and hosting the meetings that routinely occured between the three factions. the ka'ji built space ships that would be large enough to usher representatives from all three, as well as ships that had to withstand the different, hazardous environments on all planets (the heat and sun of nae'taesi, the underwater madness of fae'ailoa, and the inhabitable surface of ka'ja).

NOTE: when it came time for them to vacate their respective planets due to the looming black hole it was the ka'ji that saved their neighbors, knowing full well they wouldn't survive otherwise. they are the heroes of il'ethalas!
